The Science of Breath
For over 4,000 years, Pranayama has been regarded as the art of harnessing prana—our vital life force—through the breath. Today, this wisdom is refined into Breathwork: a proven, science-backed method for recalibrating the nervous system, releasing stored emotional tension, and accessing altered states of awareness. On average, we take 22,000 unconscious breaths per day. When harnessed with intention, those same breaths become a tool for expanding lung capacity, reducing cortisol levels, increasing oxygen efficiency, and stimulating the vagus nerve—directly impacting stress resilience and emotional balance.

The Ice Effect
Cold immersion has rapidly gained recognition in sports science, neuroscience, and high-performance wellness. Exposure to the ice bath activates brown adipose tissue, boosts circulation, sharpens mental focus, and triggers a powerful release of endorphins and dopamine—often described as a natural "reset" for the body and mind. Our practitioners in residence are Valery Mathews and Elvina Jessica who have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with our guests.

Valery is a certified breathwork and ice bath facilitator, and teacher trainer. Her life purpose is to spread the healing power of breath and help others find their way back home to themselves. She believes that self-development is a beautiful, never-ending journey and looks forward to daily integration of all the different aspects of herself, light or dark that makes her original, unique imprint in this world. Valery is ecstatic to share the breath with Sanctuary guests and assist in your transformative journey.

How to prepare:

  • Please arrive at least 15-minutes before the session to check-in & acclimate 
  • Stay hydrated, avoid heavy meals, and moderate caffeine intake before the session
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing 
  • Bring a bathing suit for the ice bath session
  • Consider bringing a journal for reflection & integration
  • Come with an open heart & mind
